The role:

A Software Engineer is an essential role within the Support and Change team at One Beyond, focused on maintaining the integrity and reliability of software applications. This role plays a crucial part in addressing and solving technical issues that arise, ensuring that customers receive prompt and effective solutions to their problems.

What you will be doing on a daily basis:

  • Supporting and maintaining existing systems within the Support and Change department
  • Collaborating on Change projects and contributing to the delivery of high-quality bespoke software solutions
  • Assisting in understanding and refining requirements with the client and the engineering team
  • Supporting the smooth transition of new projects into the Support and Change department by working with the project team
  • Using One Beyond’s support helpdesk to identify issues or change requests, updating ticket statuses, and communicating updates to clients
  • Investigating support tickets with guidance, including identifying whether the issue is related to data, infrastructure, bugs, or change requests

Skills and requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Software Developer role
  • Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify the root cause of technical issues and follow appropriate steps to resolve them
  • Foundational knowledge of computer software and the ability to follow technical instructions
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to respond promptly and professionally to client enquiries
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users
  • Good organisational skills to manage tasks and meet deadlines
  • Good debugging and profiling skills, particularly in database-centric systems
