Got a question about software development?

Find helpful answers to these frequently-asked questions.

What is Agile Software Development?

It’s a fast and flexible approach to developing software in stages – with scope to make changes along the way. Your input is an important part of the process too. This ensures we deliver software that meets your expectations and gets delivered on time and on budget. Discover more by taking a look at our Development Process.

What’s an MVP?

MVP stands for minimum viable product. This is an important concept in the software world. It’s a workable version of your product that’s stripped back to the bare essentials. Starting out with an MVP can be a smart idea. You can test out the basic product with real users, gather feedback and then add the features you actually need. This can save you time and money – rather than spending a long time building a fully-fledged product that may end up not being the best fit for your audience. Our Discovery Workshops are a great way to establish what you need – and the best approach.

Does One Beyond do mobile app development?

Yes – it’s a major part of our business. We’ve gained an enviable reputation for building game-changing, intuitive apps for dozens of businesses across sectors. Our developers can write native Android and iOS apps. For more information see Mobile App Development.

How should we use AI in our business?

Great question! There’s been huge hype around AI and plenty of money wasted on unfocused projects. But we’ll guide you towards AI technology that can give you an edge, increase efficiency and be good news for employees and customers. See our AI Assessment service and AI for your Business.

Why should we outsource software development to you?

There are big advantages with using One Beyond. You gain immediate access to world-class talent and you can switch us On and Off as needed – to match your projects requirements. Find out about Our Approach and what makes us different.

What is the advantage of bespoke software over off-the-shelf?

Our bespoke software can match your exact requirements – rather than you having to “make something fit” which often happens with off-the-shelf solutions. Operational Systems like ERPs and CRMs are a good example where customised features can deliver major benefits. When we build your software, you own the code (also known as the IP/Intellectual Property). This is important because it becomes an asset to your business and holds its value. It’s a bit like the difference between buying and renting a property.

How is software made from scratch – what is the process?

We’ve delivered more than 1,000 successful products across industries. Over time, we’ve enhanced and honed the process – so you get better products, sooner. Take a look at our Development Process to see how it works.

How long will it take to build the software?

It depends on requirements of course. It can be as quick as a couple of months for smaller projects. On average, we aim for six months for larger projects, and resource our team appropriately. Much larger projects, or those with a complex critical paths, can take longer, or be ongoing projects with regular releases. Find out more about our Development Process.

As a client, will I be involved in the development of my software?

Yes, your input really matters to us. We’ll set the right direction with you at a Discovery Workshop and then we’ll include you in the Development Process. Working with us is simple. You’ll have a single point of contact with our team, plus secure access to a project extranet where you can easily check on progress at any time.

Will I own the IP when you develop software for me?

Yes. You will have full ownership of the intellectual property (IP). You’ll own the code. This is important because it becomes an asset to your business and holds its value. It’s a bit like the difference between buying and renting a property.

Is Onshore or Offshore development better?

Selecting an onshore provider can be an advantage as you have direct access to the supplier. Also, in some instances it may be only possible for you to work with developers in the UK. Offshore (or Nearshore) is also a viable option for those that do not need to visit the people developing the software in person, or the location of software development is unimportant. One Beyond offers the best of both worlds – offering both options of Nearshore or Onshore, or a blend of both, without compromising quality or communication and delivering a world-class digital outcome. Find out more About us and our Technology Stack.

Are all One Beyond Developers based in the UK?

We have a team of approximately 200 employees across our international business. Our developers are based across our office locations: our headquarters in Farnborough, Hampshire, and our engineering centres of excellence in Manchester, Madrid, Seville, Budapest and Szeged. Our About us page includes more details and see our Contact page for office locations.

How many developers does One Beyond have?

We have approximately 200 full time employees, spread across our six international office locations.

Is software development a good career?

Yes, software development is a great career. We employee dozens of talented developers. The pay can be rewarding – and it’s a genuinely fun but challenging job. The world is becoming ever more dependent on technology and developers are hugely in demand as a result. We’re growing fast and often have vacancies. See our Careers page.
