About TechMarketView

TechMarketView provides research and analysis on the UK software and IT services market. Founded in 2009 by analysts Richard Holway and Anthony Miller, the business helps technology suppliers understand competitors, market developments and emerging trends. Alongside its subscription research services, it publishes UKHotViews, offering daily opinion and commentary on the technology sector. Its distributed analyst team continually updates company financial information, using this research to inform market comparisons, reports and insights.

The Challenge

TechMarketView had outgrown a database designed for an earlier stage of its business. Plans to expand coverage from around 200 suppliers to several thousand, while collecting more information about each, demanded greater flexibility and capacity. Even small structural or interface changes required the original developer’s involvement, and the absence of built-in reporting forced analysts to export the entire database to Excel. The replacement needed to support remote working, give authorised analysts more control and be ready in time for the next annual report.

Our Solution

One Beyond worked closely with TechMarketView to prototype the new database, allowing analysts to review and refine the design before development began. We built the system using Microsoft ASP.NET technologies, migrated the existing company data and provided separate online environments for testing and live use. Integrated analysis, reporting and validation checks made information easier to assess and maintain, while authorised analysts gained the ability to adapt the system themselves. Delivered on schedule with analyst training, the platform reduced comparison work to minutes and provided a foundation for future research services.
