About ToolboxIT

Toolboxit is a London-based business founded by construction industry professionals Yvonne Edwards and Steven Plummer. Drawing on their experience, the founders identified an opportunity to modernise how construction teams manage everyday health and safety communication. Their focus was on Toolbox Talks: short, informal briefings delivered to site workers. The business set out to make these talks easier to distribute, deliver and document, with ambitions to bring its approach to other industries and international markets.

The Challenge

Traditional Toolbox Talks involved printing forms, collecting workers’ signatures and scanning completed paperwork back into office systems. This created a lengthy administrative process around an activity that needed to happen regularly on busy construction sites. Toolboxit wanted a mobile solution that allowed teams to initiate and complete the process on site, while retaining accessible records of communication and acknowledgement. The founders also needed a development partner who could translate their industry knowledge into a viable product and support its future expansion beyond UK construction.

Our Solution

One Beyond worked closely with Toolboxit’s founders to design and build a Microsoft Azure-based platform combining a web portal with iOS and Android applications. Professional subscribers could write and distribute their own talks, with content delivered through the app or by email depending on the recipient. The solution enabled on-site delivery, signed acknowledgements and remote access to records, supported by Azure SQL Database and encrypted data handling. Through collaborative, iterative development, we helped the founders refine their ideas into a practical service with room to grow.
